LAWRENCE, Kan. (247Sports.com) – One of the most coveted big men in the class of 2024, Flory Bidunga is off the board.
The native of Congo who attends Kokomo (Ind.) High and currently ranks No. 5 overall in the senior class announced that he’s headed to Kansas during halftime of Saturday night’s Elite 24 game in Atlanta.
Earlier in the week, Bidunga told 247Sports what he liked about the Jayhawks.
“Basketball-wise, they are different,” said Bidunga. “It has been great with Bill Self. We talk a lot and he is a great coach.”
A big time athlete who can really run the floor, Bidunga burst onto the scene during the spring of his sophomore year while playing on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit with Indiana Elite. since then he’s only gotten better while emerging as the top lob catcher and rim protector in the senior class. He’s added some mass to his wiry strong frame and he’s also developed as an outstanding passer out of double teams in the low post.
Self and the Jayhawks have proven time and time again that they know how to use and develop big men and Bidunga should be a perfect fit for the Kansas system.
Kansas’ first commitment from the class of 2024, Bidunga was seen by 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein during workouts for the Elite 24 and he provided this feedback.
“He was more intent to dominate the paint in the afternoon, and virtually unmatched when that was the case. Bidunga showed off his physical tools by ripping the rim on a couple of massive finishes, snatching rebounds above the pack, getting deep enough post position so that he could virtually shoot down on baby hooks with full extension, and sprinting the floor with more force and speed than any other big man in the field.”
