GREAT BEND, Kan. – In a pitcher’s duel through five and a half innings, the BatCats were able to claim all five runs in the fifth, to defeat the Newton Sluggin’ Rebels 5-2.
It was a solid night for Anthony Treto on the rubber, pitching five scoreless innings, giving up just one hit. Jake Tatom’s two-run double highlighted a five-run fifth inning for the BatCats. Tatom was joined by Nolan Bushko and Connor Chavez, collecting two hits each.
Newton would collect a run in the fifth and sixth, but Brett Allen would record the save for Great Bend in the ninth
Following the win, the BatCats move to 6-2 on the season, and the two will meet again Tuesday, at Al Burns Memorial Field. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
