Figueroa’s Career Day Lands Him National and Conference Defensive Player of the Week

WICHITA, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – Junior safety Nehemiah Figueroa has been named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week and KCAC Defensive Player of the Week Monday (Sep. 4), following a career day, This marks the second straight week the Bulldogs have a conference Player of the Week nod, and the first national honor this season.

“It was a really great performance,” head coach Jeremiah Fiscus said. “A fumble recovery and two takeaways in a clutch situation really gave our team an opportunity to go win the game.”

A native of Boyertown, Pa., Figueroa had an interception on each of the final two Warrior drives to seal the 34-31 comeback victory over Sterling College. Figueroa also made three solo tackles, and was credited with his first career fumble recovery.”

“It’s just awesome to see a guy produce and help the team in that manner. He was really flying around.”

Now with three interceptions on the season, Figueroa stands alone at the top of the NAIA.

Figueroa and the Bulldogs are back at Paul Family Field at McPherson Stadium for a primetime showdown against Saint Mary.
