ELLSWORTH, Kan. – Ellsworth inched closer on Friday to a marquee week eight showdown with Southeast of Saline by routing Luyons 72-6 on Friday in Class 2A District 5 action.
Will Cravens led a dominant ground attack for Ellsworth, scoring the first and last touchdowns of the first half, coming on 40 and 26 yards. In between, the Bearcats scored 42 more points and led 56-0 at half.
Ellsworth finished with 282 rushing yards on just 22 carries.
Lyons scored its first touchdown of the season in the third quarter, as Deacon Showalter fired a 60-yard strike to Solomon Goforth.
Ellsworth improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in district play, while Lyons fell to 0-5, 0-2.
