Disastrous Third Quarter Leads to Lady Swedes’ Downfall

SALINA, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes were on the road, Wednesday, January 22nd at Kansas Wesleyan University to take on the Coyotes in a weekday thriller. The Swedes were coming off of a tough loss against Friends University the Saturday prior. Unfortunately, the Coyotes would come out victorious after four hard-fought quarters, 47-57.

Kansas Wesleyan quickly got off to a lead over the Swedes at the start of the game. Bethany held the Coyotes to a minor lead after the first quarter, 10-15. The Coyotes extended that lead to seven going into halftime, 21-28. The Swedes struggled throughout the first half at the three-point line. Hoping to take control of the game, Bethany came out of the break and immediately struggled as the Coyotes quickly extended their lead to double digits. The Swedes went on to have their worst quarter of the game in the third, only scoring six points. Bethany was down by fifteen, 27-42, going into the 4th quarter. The Swedes went to work and started chipping away at the lead but in the end, there wasn’t enough time. Swedes fall to the Coyotes by ten.

Notable stats include, Janae Black-Harmon with 13 rebounds and 3 assists, Kylie Dunn with 9 points and 3 blocks, and Jaden Newfarmer with 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists and 7 points.
