MANHATTAN, Kan. (KStateSports.com) – K-State’s Brady Day was rewarded Monday with Big 12 Player of the Week honors, the Conference office announced.

Day, who receives the weekly award for the first time in his respective career, led a Wildcats offense that extended their win streak out to four with a home sweep over UMass Lowell.

The Hampstead, N.H., product generated a team-high eight hits (.667), that included four extra-base hits with two doubles and a pair of homers for an incredible 1.333 slugging percentage. The Cats’ second baseman turned in two multi-hit and two multi-RBI efforts over the week, including his 4-for-4, five RBI performance Friday.

In the series opener, Day launched a go-ahead two-run homer in the third to lead to the Cats 10-1 win. He went on to send out his third homer of the season in the seventh to notch his first multi-homer game of his career. Day finished the weekend with a team-high eight RBI and scoring five runs.

Day was selected in the 12th round (No. 369 overall) in the 2023 MLB Draft.

The award marks the first by a Wildcat this season, and the 17th weekly league accolade under sixth-year head coach Pete Hughes.

K-State (7-3) sets out to take on No. 8 Tennessee (11-1) and No. 10 Clemson (9-1) on March 5-6 in the final tune-up before Big 12 action.
