STERLING, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The Lady Warriors spent most of the night trailing, but got their shots to fall when they needed it most; late in the fourth quarter. Down ten early to the Bethel College Threshers the offense poured in for both teams. Sterling trailed 28-18 after one quarter, but tied or won in every quarter after that. The script couldn’t have been written any better for the Warriors at the end of regulation when Kali Briar hit a game-tying three with three seconds to play at the end of regulation. That sent the game into overtime. The teams traded leads in for all five minutes in extra time. Sterling held a one point lead with time winding down before Caryn Yoder for Bethel hit a three with just over a second remaining to give Bethel a two point lead. There was just enough time for Korynn Clason to take a contested shot, but she was not able to get a clean look and time expired on the Warrior’s comeback. Sterling lost in overtime, 87-85.

Korynn Clason lead all scorers with 31 points. 17 in the second half and overtime. Clason with her 31 points also eclipsed 1,500 points in her Sterling College career. Alissa Heskamp paced the Warrior’s comeback by finding transition baskets in the second half to cut into the Thresher lead. She ended with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Briar led the transition offense with intentional passing, ending the game with 8 assists and 5 points. Bailey Young had an excellent night below the basket with 14 rebounds, most of them on the defensive end.

Sterling falls to 8-3 this season and are 4-2 in conference play. They return to action on Saturday for their last home game before the Christmas break. They play Ottawa University with a 1 pm tipoff.
