WICHITA, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – Sterling’s Lady Warriors got off to a slow start Wednesday in their 64-78 loss to the Friends Falcons in the Garvey Center.

Sterling started off the first quarter down giving up a 13-4 run in the first five minutes of play. However, the Warriors were able to crawl back into the game and ended the quarter down two, 22-20.

Kali Briar opened up the second quarter with a three ball to give the Lady Warriors their first lead of the game. The lead was short lived as Sterling was outscored 18-9 in the second frame, and continued to struggle offensively, only putting up 10 points in the third quarter.

However, despite being down by as much as 24 in the fourth frame, the Lady Warriors battled back with a defensive effort causing 8 turnovers and cutting the lead down to 11 with 2:53 left to play.

That’s as close as Sterling would get as the Falcons were able to extend their lead through free throws and ultimately come away with the win.

The Lady Warriors were led in scoring by Korynn Clason who put up 30 points, followed by McKenna Vogl with 12. Vogl also added two blocks and five rebounds.

Kayla Morris and Briar led Sterling in rebounds with nine and six, respectively. Briar also contributed three assists and two steals. Karlee Jacobs also added three assists to the mix.

Sterling College (5-4, 9-6) will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 11 as they take on York University (2-7, 4-8) in the Gleason Center at 1 p.m.
