CANTON, Kan. – The Canton-Galva High School Eagles had a busy week to start off April of 2025 in baseball, softball, boys golf, and track & field.
BASEBALL
Canton-Galva/Elyria Christian Eagles Baseball has face tough opponents to start off the season. After being swept by Hillsboro and Moundridge, the Eagles traveled to face Little River, who is one of the best 2-1A teams in the state. The Eagles fell 14-0 and 15-0 in those two games. Following that doubleheader, the team traveled to Inman Tuesday, April 8, but fell in two games again, losing both games 10-0.
Despite the setbacks, the offense for the Eagles have been sound. The team is led by Gabe Standfast, who hits a team-high .438 batting average with 4 RBI’s. Ethan Harrington and Blake Harrington have followed suit as well, batting over .300.
The team will face Sedgwick Friday, April 11 at home for a doubleheader.
SOFTBALL
The Canton-Galva softball team has had to endure tough teams as well, such as Hillsboro, Moundridge, Little River, and Inman.
More recently, they’ve played in tough offensive battles. The team faced Little River April 1, falling in game one 19-11 and game two 17-7. Following that double-header, they were swept and shut out by Inman 24-0 in game one and 15-0 in game two.
But much like the baseball team, the Canton-Galva offense has staggering numbers. The team is hitting .383 as a team, led by Krysten Fenstermaker hitting .632 on the season. Jayden Orth is not far behind, batting .500 on the season.
The team will be at home Friday, April 11 for a doubleheader against Sedgwick.
TRACK & FIELD
The Canton-Galva Track & Field teams had two meets in the span of a week to start off April, starting off with the Bennington High School Invite Friday, April 4.
The teams competed against 10 other schools from around the state, finishing with multiple top five finishers. Below are the final results for the Bennington Meet.

The invite featured seven teams in total, with Canton-Galva finishing in 6th. Council Grove finished in the top spot by 34 strokes.
