Senior pitcher & outfielder Addison Chapman’s performance at the plate and in the circle contributed greatly to McPherson’s third straight win, throwing the full seven innings, striking out 14 batters, and racking up three hits offensively. Sophomore CF Pera Bauer and senior C Haely Hagemann had multi-hit games, with Hagemann driving home three runs.
The Bullpups only had one extra-base hit out of their 12 in total, but five walks drawn and only striking out twice boosted them to victory.

The bats sprung to life in game two, which brought more extra-base hits for the Bullpups. Chapman continued off from game one, going 3-4 in game two with a double and a home run. Bauer and Rylie Whitfield contributed multiple RBI’s in the contest as well.

The JV team contributed greatly as well, defeating Augusta 13-2.
The wins put McPherson at 4-0 on the season, 2-0 in AVCTL Div. 3 play. The Bullpups head to Winfield to take on the Lady Vikings in their first road trip of the season Monday, March 31.
GIRLS SOCCER – Thurs., March 27 vs. Andover Central
Coming off of an 8-0 shutout victory on the road against Salina Central, the Bullpup Girls Soccer team held their home opener Thursday against Andover Central. Despite efforts against a tremendous Andover Central team, the varsity Bullpups fell 2-1. The lone goal was scored by Ellie Bower in the second half. McPherson had 8 shots-on-goal and goalkeeper Ellie Herrera had 11 saves.
The JV team competed before the varsity squad, falling 2-0 at home.
The team is back in action for the McPherson Invitational March 31, April 1, and April 4.
GIRLS SWIMMING – Thurs., March 27 in Topeka
The McPherson High School Girls Swimming team started their season on a high note, finishing in second place at the Topeka West High School Invite, held at the USD 501 Natatorium in the Capital City.
The meet featured multiple teams from multiple classifications, lots of which were 4A or 5A schools. McPherson won multiple events, had multiple State Qualification times and multiple more State Consideration times. McPherson finished with 361 total points, 39 points behind first-place Lansing.
