McPHERSON, Kan. – After starting their season strong with a 10-0 shutout against Salina Central, the McPherson High School Girls Soccer team returned home for the McPherson Invitational.
FIRST ROUND:
McPherson 6, Salina South 1
The Bullpups kicked off the 18th annual McPherson Invitational with a bang, defeating Salina South 6-1 in the opening round. It was just a 2-1 lead for the Bullpups at halftime, but a strong second half started the season 2-0.
Rebecca Lulloff scored two goals and Ellie Bower, Addison Shaft, Brodie Kuhn, and Kenna Dale each scored as well.
SEMI-FINALS:
McPherson 1, Topeka 2
The Bullpups looked to cap off their big win with a tough matchup against Topeka High School Tuesday. The Lady Trojans scored just three minutes into the match, leaving the Bullpups trailing for a majority of the game.
The Bullpups would tie it up with 37:55 to go in the 2nd half with an Addison Shaft goal, but Topeka retook the lead with 11:30 remaining with a goal of their own and would hold on to win.
The Bullpups will face Valley Center in the third place game Friday, March 29 at 5 p.m.
