SALINA, Kan. – Defensive dominance paved the way for McPherson’s Varsity Girls Soccer team in their season opener against Salina Central, winning 8-0 on the road.
Six of the eight goals were in the second half, but the defense headlined it all as the team did not allow a single shot-on-goal by Salina Central, making it a smooth day for goalkeeper Ellie Herrera.

McPherson is 1-0 on the year. They will have their home opener Thursday, March 27 vs. Andover Central. The JV team will start at 5:00 p.m. and the varsity squad will kick off at 6:30 p.m.
