McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School’s baseball and softball teams were in action for a divisional doubleheader Friday, April 11 against Circle High School. Both varsity teams swept the Thunderbirds to stay undefeated nearly halfway through the 2025 season.

The Bullpups pulled off the game one victory in their first walk-off win in 2025. The Bullpups had a 5-0 lead through five innings, but Circle mounted the comeback with a four-run sixth and tied the game on an RBI double in the 7th. The Bullpups did not give up though, loading the bases with one out in the bottom of the 7th. Junior DH Cowen Huggard drove home the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Carter Allen to give the Bullpups the 6-5 win.
Logan Beede threw for five full innings, but earned his first no-decision on the season. Cade Strathman pitched in the seventh inning, earning both a win and a blown save after giving up the game-tying run in the final inning.

McPherson struck first again in game two, but did not let the lead slip this time. The team had 10 hits on the game, drew seven walks, and capitalized on four errors to score 10 runs. All but one starter finished with a hit in the game with Brock Richardson leading with a perfect 3-3 on the contest.
Ian Razak earned his fourth win on the mound, throwing six out of seven innings allowing just one unearned run and three hits.

McPherson is 12-0 on the season, 6-0 against AVCTL Div. 3 opponents. They will travel to face one of the top 10 4A teams in Mulvane Thursday, April 17.
Junior varsity also earned two wins on the day, beating Circle 2-1 in game one and 16-5 in game two.

After winning in thrilling fashion in game two against Andale on Monday, the team followed up with a 7-run victory in game one against Circle Friday.
The Bullpups capitalized on 10 hits and four walks. The team finished with two extra-base hits, but both XBH were home runs. Addison Chapman had one of the two homers while also pitching all seven innings, striking out eight Thunderbirds.

The Bullpup offense fired on all cylinders in game two with 15 base hits, one double, and two home runs. The same two home run hitters in game one (Chapman & Pavlovich) also launched deep flys in game two. Rylie Whitfield also added a double in the contest.
Addie Herrera earned the win in the circle, throwing four innings and allowing four hits and two runs.
