GREAT BEND, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs opened the KCAC Tournament in Great Bend, Kan., with a 3-1 win over the second-seeded Friends University Falcons in nine innings before falling to the (3) Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles 2-1 in the 13th inning.

The Bulldogs struck first in the opener when Mackenzie Egan led off the second inning with a single to center field. Egan came around to score to grab a 1-0 lead. Friends knotted the score in the bottom of the third, and that score would hold until the top of the ninth.

Lacy Weaver led off the top of the ninth with a double, then pinch-runner Kennedy Johnson scored on an Alexandrea Garcia single to right field. The Bulldogs made it a 3-1 edge when Kassidy New hit an RBI double to right field, scoring Garcia.

Weaver, Egan, and Garcia each finished the first game with a pair of hits. Jordyn Johnson got the start in the circle and was phenomenal, allowing just one run on six hits.

Game two was similar to the first, as the Bulldogs grabbed an early 1-0 lead when Lauren Skinner scored on a wild pitch.

The Eagles leveled the score in the fourth and then scored in the bottom of the 13th inning to win 2-1.

Raegan Kleppe started for the Bulldogs in game two and struck out five batters while allowing eight hits.

The Bulldogs drop into the losers bracket and will take on fourth-seeded Bethany College tomorrow at noon.
