Bulldogs Cross Country Competes at Old Glory Gallup

GRAND PRAIRIE, Tex. (MacBulldogs.com) The McPherson College cross country team was well represented at the Old Glory Gallup Saturday morning in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The women’s team was led by Amari Robb’s 5k time of 20:53. She crossed the finish line in 237th place. Robb posted a 6:30 mark during the first mile before notching a 7:18 time for the second mile. Robb raced home in 6:21, averaging 6:44 per mile.

Johanna Walker notched a time of 25:09, which was good enough for 380th place. Her first mile was at a 7:48 pace. She crossed the line by recording a 7:50 pace for the final mile.

Kamryn Nolan concluded the meet in 398th place after garnering a time of 27:56. Her best mile was at an 8:23 pace for the first part of the race.

The meet had well over 400 student-athletes competing and had nearly 50 teams from all levels participating.

The men’s squad also put forth a solid effort at the Old Glory Gallup Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs were led by Brock Lauer’s 94th-place finish at the 8k event. He crossed the finish line in 26:02, resulting in a 5:14 mile pace. Lauer had two miles under a five-minute mile, including the first mile (4:59) and the third mile (4:54).

Isaac Hale took home 253rd place with a time of 28:20. He averaged a 5:41 mile. Hale’s opening mile split was 5:19 and his third mile was at a solid 5:24 pace.

Parker Roberts tallied a 329th-place finish. He reached the finish line in 30:27, resulting in a 6:07 mile pace. Roberts had two splits under six minutes. Roberts started the race with a 5:43 split for the mile before posting a 5:49 pace for the third mile.

Four hundred student-athletes competed Saturday morning. Forty-one teams took part in the race – from Division I to NAIA.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, Sept. 12 when they host the Carol Swenson Invitational with the women running at 9:00 a.m. and the men coming at 9:45 a.m. The race will take place at Bulldog Park.
