McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — Despite a strong first-half effort, the Bulldogs were unable to slow down the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles, who pulled away in the 2nd half to secure a 4-0 win.
In the first half, the MC defense stood their ground and made life tough for the usually potent Eagles offensive attack as Keito Takehara Jr made six huge saves to keep OKWU off the scoreboard. Abdul Kanu nearly broke the seal for the Bulldogs in the 39th minute, but the crossbar denied it and kept the score all even at zero after a half of play.
Oklahoma Wesleyan showed exactly why they’re a top-five team in the second half, scoring the game’s first goal in the 63rd minute and never looking back. McPherson was unable to sway the momentum as the Eagles added on a trio of goals to remain undefeated in KCAC play. Takehara did his absolute best in his 90 minutes of action as the goalkeeper, recording 12 saves in the contest.
The Bulldogs will look to get back in the win column when they play host to Sterling College on Wednesday, October 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
