Buhler’s Aubrey Tanksley Makes MIAA All-Tournament Team for Washburn

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WUSports.com) – Aubrey Tanksley and Grace Peterson were selected to the 2023 Women’s Soccer MIAA All-Tournament team released by the conference on Tuesday morning. The pair joins the team after Washburn lost to Emporia State 3-2 in the tournament semifinals.

Grace Peterson earns the nod after starting in both games for the Ichabod in the tournament and playing a combined 142 minutes while attempting two shots. Peterson has started all 20 matches as a freshman in the midfield and helped the Ichabods to 11 shutouts in the regular season.

Aubrey Tanksley is an All-Tournament selection after starting in the quarterfinals match against Missouri Western and assisting Belle Kennedy on the opening goal of the match. She also picked up an assist to Ana Muruzabal off a corner kick late in the match against Emporia State. She played 156 total minutes total, against the Griffons she led the match with three shots on goal and five total shots.

Washburn earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Central Region Tournament and will host and face No. 8 Ouachita Baptist at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 in Yager Stadium.
