WICHITA, Kan. (GoShockers.com) – Charlie Giaudrone (Baseball), Alex Harden (Women’s Basketball), Taryn Torgerson (Women’s Golf) and Cacy Williams (Softball) have been selected as the 2024 Class of the Wichita State Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame.
A dinner is set for 6 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Beggs Ballroom on the Wichita State campus, while the induction ceremony is scheduled for halftime of Wichita State’s Jan. 28 (2 p.m.) men’s basketball game against SMU.
Cost for the dinner is $50 per person, and paid reservations can be made online at goshockers.com or by calling the Shocker Ticket Office at 316/978-FANS or in person at the WSU Ticket Office located on the south side of Charles Koch Arena.
The addition of this year’s class brings the total of former coaches and student-athletes in the Hall of Fame to 160, while there are 13 at-large selections.

Charlie Giaudrone, Baseball (1989-92)
Four-year starting pitcher for the Wichita State baseball program from 1989-92…Went 31-7 with a 2.69 ERA in 61 appearances with 49 starts and six complete games…Pitched 294 innings with two shutouts and 195 strikeouts…Member of the 1989 National Championship team and was the starting and winning pitcher in the regional championship game against Michigan to advance team to the College World Series…Member of four Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championship teams, four NCAA Tournament teams, three College World Series teams and two MVC Tournament championship teams…Pitched a no-hitter in 1989 against Fordham…Named to the 1992 MVC All-Tournament team…Named a second team All-American in 1992 by ABCA…Named a first team Academic All-American in 1992 and a second team selection in 1991…Named the National Academic Athlete of the Year in 1992…First team all-Midwest Region selection in 1992…Earned first team all-MVC honors in 1992…Finished his career at Wichita State second in ERA (2.69), sixth in games started (49), seventh in consecutive victories (13), eighth in winning percentage (.816), ninth in wins (31) and 10th in innings pitched (294.0).
Alex Harden, Women’s Basketball (2011-15)
Guard/forward for the Wichita State women’s basketball program from 2011-15…Played in 133 games with 1,708 points, 683 rebounds, 436 assists, 278 steals and 113 blocks, while averaging 12.8 points per game…Named an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American in 2015…Named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2015…Three-time MVC Tournament MVP…Three-time first team all-MVC…Three-time all-MVC Defensive Team…Two-time MVC Defensive Player of the Year…Named to the MVC All-Freshman Team in 2012…Named MVC Player of the Week six times…Only Shocker with more than 1,440 points, 600 rebounds, 350 assists, 100 blocks and 200 steals…Finished her career seventh in the NCAA with 3.27 steals per game…Holds the single season steals record with 108 in 2014-15…Tied a single game record with 11 steals against Indiana State in 2015…Led team to three-straight MVC regular-season and tournament titles…Led team to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances…Finished her Wichita State career first in points (1,708), second in games played (133), second in free throws made (386), second in steals (278), second in free throw percentage (.799), third in field goals made (644), third in assists (436), fourth in free throws attempted (483), fifth in blocks (113), sixth in field goals attempted (1,341), seventh in rebounds (683), and 11th in scoring average (12.8).
Taryn Torgerson, Women’s Golf (2014-18)
Golfer for the Wichita State women’s golf program from 2014-18…2018 individual champion in the American Athletic Conference…Won AAC Championship on a playoff hole after carding a tournament and course record 8-under par 64 in the final round…2016 individual champion in the Missouri Valley Conference…Led team to 2016 MVC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance…Helped team to 2015 MVC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance as a freshman…Three-time all-conference selection…Two-time first team MVC Scholar-Athlete selection…Two-time WGCA All-American Scholar…During her senior season, had seven top-10 and eight top-20 finishes…During her junior season, won two collegiate competitions and had seven top-10 finishes and eight top-20 finishes…During her sophomore season, had five top-10 finishes…Holds school record for low 18 with a 64 and low 54 with a 211 at the AAC Championship in 2018…Finished her Wichita State career first in tournament titles (6), first in lowest career stroke average (75.55), first in lowest single season stroke average (73.26) and first in lowest 54-hole stroke average (226.64).
Cacy Williams, Softball (2014-16)
First baseman for the Wichita State softball program from 2014-16…Played in 117 career games and hit .360 with 136 runs, 182 hits, 35 doubles, 3 triples, 39 home runs, 135 RBI and 15 stolen bases…Named the 2014 and 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year…Named the MVC Newcomer of the Year in 2014…Three-time first team all-conference selection…Member of the 2014 MVC all-tournament team…Three-time first team all-MVC Scholar-Athlete selection…Two-time first team all-Midwest Region selection…Led team to 2014 MVC regular-season title…Member of 2016 MVC regular-season and Tournament championship team and NCAA Tournament team…Holds individual game record for RBI with eight against Iowa State in 2014…Logged one of the best seasons in school history in 2014 as she hit .424 with 16 home runs, 47 RBI, 72 hits, 14 doubles, 57 runs and an .812 slugging percentage…Finished Wichita State career first in batting average (.360), first in slugging percentage (.673), first in on base percentage (.457), first in home runs (39), first in RBI (135), first in fielding percentage (.997), third in total bases (340), fourth in runs scored (136), sixth in putouts (935) and seventh in doubles (35).
