Buhler Sports Roundup: Track & Field with Strong Showing at Home Invite

BUHLER, Kan. – The only 4A school in the field, Buhler track and field put up a strong showing Friday at its home invitational.  The Buhler girls were impressive, outpacing 2nd place Salina South by 37.5 points. The Buhler boys finished 2nd, only three points back of 1st place Hutchinson.

Lillie Ledford flexed some muscle on the track, winning the girls 200 meters by more than half a second and the 400 meters by nearly three seconds. She finished 2nd in the 100 meters.

Sophia Rose and Ryan Gotti placed 1-2 in girls javelin.

Tavian Gilliam won the boys triple jump with a distance of 43-5.25. On the track, he placed 2nd in the 200 meters.

Layne Whisler and Kaden Lohrentz ran first and second respectively in the boys 3200 meters.

Soccer

Buhler soccer wrapped up an eight-game road stretch Monday with a narrow 2-0 loss at Augusta. The loss dropped the Crusaders’ record to 5-4-1 on the season.

Buhler, 5-4-1, now returns home for three-straight beginning with Wichita College on Tuesday at Crusader Stadium.

Tennis

Buhler tennis competed Saturday at the 16-school Tournament of Champions hosted by Wichita College.

In Singles, Amos Harder placed 13th and Davian Spies 17th.Von Woleslagel and Reuben Harder finished the day 11th in Doubles. Merick Manns and  Eli Biggs were 19th.

The Crusaders are back at the net Tuesday at Hesston.

Golf

Buhler golf finished 7th in the final standing’s at last Thursday’s Collegiate Invitational. Drew DeMeyer and Landon Hallier led the way individually.

Following a week off, Buhler will travel to the Hutchinson Invitation on Friday at Carey Park.

Swimming

Madison Staib and Shaylin Petz led the effort for Crusader Swimming on Friday at Salina South.

Staib took 9th in the 500 Freestyle, breaking her own school record by nearly four seconds. She also swam to an 8th place effort in the 200 Freestyle.

Petz broke the 100 Backstroke record with an 8th place effort. She was 6th in the 100 Freestyle.
