BUHLER, Kan. – Trailing by four points late in Friday’s Senior Night contest, Buhler boys basketball outdueled Winfield 15-4 in the game’s final minutes to win, 40-33.
Jacob Miller led the comeback, scoring eight of his 10 points in the fourth quarter.
The league foes battled each other within two possessions for most of the contest and traded the lead six times. Buhler seized the advantage for the final time on a Jalen Crable three with 2:21 remaining. The Crusaders capitalized on their free throw opportunities, going 7 of 9 from the line in the fourth quarter and 10 of 13 for the game.
Jefferey Neal, Buhler’s lone senior, finished with a team high 11 points.
Buhler girls 61, Winfield 30 – Buhler poured in a season-high in points en route to sweeping the season series with Winfield. Nine different Crusaders contributed at least one field goal.
A Charlie Baxter bucket stretched the lead to double-digits at the end of the first half. Baxter finished with a game-high 10 points and added seven rebounds.
Buhler’s offense ignited in the second half, outscoring Winfield, 35-15.
Gracie Oard and Natalya Krafels each tallied nine points. Faith Miller added seven points and five rebounds.
