Blue Dragons Women’s Soccer Climb to No. 18 in NJCAA Rankings

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (BlueDragonSports.com) – A win and a draw last week helped the Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team climb two spots in the first regular-season NJCAA Division I national rankings of the season released on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons moved up to No. 18, a climb of two spots from the preseason poll. The Blue Dragons have now been ranked in 11 consecutive polls since the 2023 preseason poll.

That’s the second-longest consecutive streak of weeks being ranked in the national rankings since being ranked in 15 consecutive polls in 2009 and 2010.

The Dragons opened the season with a 6-1 victory over NOC-Enid and a 7-2 win over Garden City. The Dragons then battled to a 2-2 tie at Seward County on Saturday. The Dragons take on Dodge City at home on Wednesday and travel to No. 10 Butler on Saturday.

The Jayhawk Conference continues to show its depth with four teams inside the Top 20 and Barton receiving votes.

Cowley is No. 9, followed by Butler at No. 10, Kansas City at No. 12 and the Blue Dragons at No. 18.

Iowa Western remains the unanimous choice at No. 1 with a 2-0-1 record. Eastern Florida State (1-0) is No. 2, followed by Tyler (3-0) at No. 3, Navarro (3-0-1) at No. 4 and Seminole State (1-0-1) at No. 5.
