HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Coming off a tie-breaking win in the Missouri Southern Stampede last Friday, the Hutchinson Community College women’s cross country team fell one spot to No. 6 in the latest USTFCCCA NJCAA Division I national rankings on Wednesday.
The Blue Dragon women have been ranked in the Top 10 for seven-consecutive polls, which is the second-longest run in the Top 10 since 2002.
Last Friday, Hutchinson and Butler tied for the Missouri Southern Stampede college division team title. The Blue Dragons were declared the team winner based on new team tie-breaking rules for 2023 where each teams’ Top 5 runners are compared in terms of their finish. The Missouri Southern Stampede was Hutchinson’s first 5,000-meter race of the season. Next up for the Blue Dragons is the Chili Pepper Festival on Sept. 29 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The Jayhawk Conference continues to be well represented in the national rankings with five teams in the Top 10.
Colby is No. 2 this week, up nine spots from the last poll. The Blue Dragons are No. 6, Butler No. 7, Dodge City No. 8 and Cloud County is No. 10. Highland is 21st this week and Barton is No. 22.
