The 2022 Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned a team academic award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Thursday.
The Blue Dragons were one of 22 NJCAA Division I programs to earn the AVCA Academic Award, which is sponsored by the United States Marines.
The Blue Dragons posted a cumulative 3.31 grade-point average for the 2022-23 academic season.
On the court, the Blue Dragons were 28-12 and finished fourth in the Jayhawk Conference.
The AVCA has given out academic team awards since the 1992-93 academic year. The AVCA awards teams in all three divisions of the NJCAA, all three NCAA Divisions the NAIA and at the high school level. This year a record 1,132 teams across all those different divisions earned team academic honors.
