HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team will be the No. 4 seed and will play host to an opening-round Region VI Tournament game on Sunday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
The Blue Dragons (12-4-3) will play fifth-seed Butler (9-5-5) at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The game will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
The Blue Dragon-Grizzly winner will play the Barton-Coffeyville winner on Thursday, November 2 at the site of the highest-remaining seed.
On the other half of the bracket, seventh-seeded Garden City travels to No. 2 Kansas City on Saturday and sixth-seeded Dodge City plays at No. 3 Cowley on Sunday. The winners of those matches will also meet on November 2 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
The Region VI Tournament championship match will be on Sunday, November 5 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.
The Blue Dragons were 1-0-1 against Butler this season. The Dragons and Grizzlies battled to a 1-1 draw when Adriana Delgado scored the equalizer with 5 minutes remaining in the second half. The Blue Dragons defeated Butler 1-0 in El Dorado, Hutchinson’s first win at Butler since 2014.
Sunday’s matchup will be the 11th postseason duel between Hutchinson and Butler.
