HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Friday the 13th is probably the only way to describe Friday’s Class 1A District 7 game between Trinity Catholic and Sterling.

Neither team scored in regulation. Sterling scored in overtime on its only pass completion of the game, and one overtime wasn’t enough. Finally, Zane Farney scored on a 4-yard touchdown run, and Sterling left with a crucial 13-7 win.

Both teams moved the ball in the first half but couldn’t convert. Turnovers then occurred in the second half, including two for Sterling and one for Trinity.

The Celtics had the ball first in overtime and scored on Drew Dechant’s 2-yard run on fourth down.

A penalty then put Sterling in a long situation, and on third-and-goal from the 14, Boston Ekert caught a touchdown pass form Logan Isaac, the Black Bears’ only pass completion of the game.

Trinity then turned the ball over, setting the stage for Farney’s winning touchdown.
