BALDWIN CITY, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – Bethany College was on the road taking on the Baker University Wildcats, Friday September 6th in a weekday matchup featuring both JV and varsity squads. JV kicked off the night after losing the first set but taking the second and forcing a third and deciding set. Unfortunately for the Swedes, the Wildcats would come out with the win. Next on the docket was the varsity match.
Set 1: The Swedes came out level headed and kept the Wildcats within reach at the 9-9 mark. From there, Baker would hit their stride and swing momentum their way. Bethany struggled to slow the run but the Wildcats would take the first set 25-17.
Set 2: Down 0-1 in the match, the Swedes needed to pick it up and take set two to force a fourth set. Both teams went point for point to start off the second set but at the 5-5 mark, Baker would take the lead and extend it to 5. Bethany was unable to dig themselves out of that hole and would finish the set 18-25.
Set 3: The third set would turn out to be the worst set of the game for the Swedes who struggled on serve receive and limiting errors with only 6 kills in the set. The Wildcats were able to dominate the net and picked apart Bethany’s defense. Baker would finish the third set 25-13.
