WICHITA, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes took I-135 S to Wichita, Kan. for their first competition in 2025 to compete in the Friends University First Chance Qualifier meet hosted by the Friends University Falcons in the Heskett Center located on Wichita State University’s campus.

Since classes haven’t started, the Swedes competed with a smaller squad than usual filled with those who were able to check in to campus early.

The Swedes tallied seven total personal records (PR), four event finalists, and two top-4 finishes. The Vikings of the Meet awards went to Kaylee Dixon and Braydon Pratt.

Kaylee Dixon kicked things off with a PR in the weight throw beating her former record by almost a full meter. Dixon would place fourth in the event.

Braydon Pratt also set a PR in the weight throw beating his former mark by just under a meter and also placing fourth in the event. Pratt also hit his personal best in the shot put.

Head Coach Aaron Yoder had this to say about his team’s performance on Saturday: “We are excited to get the whole squad rolling at the next competition which will be at Pittsburg State on January 25 for the NAIA/JUCO Challenge. This gives us time to get back into the swing of the semester and training so we are prepared to perform well.”
