San Marcos, Texas (BethanySwedes.com) – Tyler Gunelson, head coach of the Bethany College Swedes Softball team, just can’t get away from softball as he leads the Texas Monarchs in the Women’s Professional Fastpitch league.
Dean of Athletics, Laura Moreno had this to say about her school’s head coach: “It is awesome for Coach Gunelson to have this incredible opportunity. We are excited for him, and also looking forward to how this experience for him will positively impact Swedes Softball.”
WPF is the official professional softball league in the United States, founded by USA Softball, USSSA, and Smash It Sports, per the official website. The WPF showcases the best athletes in softball, provides a world-class experience for fans, and connects young fans to their idols.
The Monarchs are the newest team to the WPF and are expected to draw a passionate fanbase out of the Austin and San Antonio areas while also contributing to the league’s mission of inspiring and empowering female athletes. The Monarchs play on Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 6pm and Sundays at 1pm every week.
The Swedes Softball head man has taken on the role as both a student of the game and a leader and will look to utilize what he has learned out in Texas back here in Lindsborg, Kan.
