WINFIELD, Kan. (TaborBluejays.com) – Lady Bluejay Basketball extended their road trip with a trip down south to Winfield to take on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Wednesday evening. The contest marked the second half of a two-game road trip consisting of games against Saint Mary and Southwestern. Tabor looked to finish out the trip 2-0, and that’s exactly what they did, handing the Moundbuilders their 13th loss of the season with a final score of 66-44.

Tabor started out hot, taking an early 7-0 lead before Southwestern could get on the board. The rest of the quarter took a different tone, as the Moundbuilders pulled withing three, giving the Bluejays a 10-7 advantage going into the 2ndquarter.

The Bluejays changed gears quickly in the 2nd quarter, holding the Moundbuilders to just seven points in the quarter, while scoring 17 themselves. Big threes by Kassidy Beam and Hailey Contreras highlighted the quarter for Tabor as they carried a 27-15 advantage into the halftime break.

The gap between the two squads only continued to grow in the second half, as TC’s lead ballooned to 24 points by the end of the quarter. Bowin and Beam highlighted the Bluejays’ scoring in the 3rd quarter.

Southwestern made an attempt to chip away at Tabor’s lead, but the Bluejays kept on rolling, building their lead to 26 at one point before winning by 22.

Kassidy Beam and Kloe Bowin lead the team in scoring with 14 points apiece, while Lillie Veer finished just behind them with 13. Alyvia Owens flirted with double figures, finishing with nine. Bowin led the team on the glass with seven boards, while Brooke Berlin led the team with two blocks.

The Lady Bluejays return to the comforts of Tabor College Gymnasium on Saturday as they play host to Oklahoma Wesleyan University in a 2pm tip.
