Barton Women’s Golf Places Runner-Up at Peru State Invitational

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. (BartonSports.com) – The Barton Community College women’s golf team finished runner-up for the second straight tournament of the fall season, the latest coming Saturday wrapping up two days of action at the Peru State Invitational in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

In less than ideal golfing conditions including 40mph wind gusts at the Table Creek Golf Club, the Cougars’ placing came on a combined 707 score in finishing second to NAIA member College of Saint Mary’s 680 accumulation. Barton was followed by CSM’s “B” Team 788 score, Peru State College at 795, and Doane University’s 850 total.

Following an off day from competition, the women will join up with the men’s squad on Monday in hosting their Barton Invitational held over two days at Junction City’s Rolling Meadow Golf Course.

Chomchanok Laparojkit highlighted four Cougars in the top ten of the 30-participant field with a 164 two-day total in finishing three shots back from the event winner by following an opening 81 with a final round field-best 83 score.

Other Cougars in the top ten were Joellen Vogt in 5th (87-88, 175), two strokes behind in 6th was Frida Medellin (84-93, 177), with Alayna Crosby competing as an individual to finish an additional four strokes back in 7th (91-90, 181).
