HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Congratulations to Ad Astra Radio’s Athlete of the Week (11/10 – 11-16) Kade Smith, Hutchinson High School senior.
The week: Smith had another monster game, rushing for 245 yards and a touchdown, leading the Salthawks to a 33-13 win over Liberal in the second-round of the Class 5A playoffs. Smith’s touchdown run measured 86 yards and came seconds into the second quarter, pushing Hutchinson’s lead to 14-0.
The season: Smith is building one of the best seasons in Salthawk history. In 10 games, Smith has rushed 200 times for 1,808 yards and 18 touchdowns. He’s 192 yards away from being the fourth Salthawks ever to rush for 2,000 yards in a season (Blaik Middleton, Ja’mon Cotton, Ben Heeney). The Salthawks are 8-2 and will host Hays in a Friday Class 5A quarterfinal.
