McPHERSON, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce this week’s Athlete of the Week, Brodie Kuhn. Kuhn is a junior on the Lady Bullpups soccer team.
The week – Kuhn helped anchor the young Bullpups’ defense en route to a runner-up finish at the annual McPherson Invitational. Kuhn played every minute of the tournament, which McPherson started with an 8-0 win over Wichita Collegiate. McPherson next beat Topeka 4-2 in the semifinals, a game McPherson led 4-0 deep into the second half. McPherson then lost to Class 5A mega power Maize South 5-0 in the championship game, but it was 1-0 at halftime.
The season – Kuhn, a junior and returning starter, was a second-team all-state selection last season. Coach Chris Adrian lauds Kuhn’s athleticism and her selflessness. Adrian said Kuhn could be the team’s leading scorer but was needed at defense. The Bullpups are 3-2 headed to big games this week against Mulvane and Rose Hill.
Each week, Ad Astra Radio recognizes a local high school student for their athletic achievements. The Athlete of the Week award is presented by Hutchinson Community College.
