HALSTEAD, Kan. — Each week, Ad Astra Radio recognizes different athlete’s outstanding achievements. Congratulations to the Athlete of the Week for the week of 10/6-10/12 Dalaina Schutte.
The week: Schutte – a setter – was sensational during a Saturday tournament in Canton, an event that featured state-championship contenders in Class 1A Division 1 (Little River, Goessel), Class 2A (Inman) and Class 3A (Halstead). In leading the Dragons to the tournament championship, Schutte had 139 assists in four matches, and added 45 digs, 17 kills and six ace serves.
The season: Schutte, a senior, has 542 assists, 138 digs, 81 kills and 48 aces, which leads the state. She has more than 1,700 career assists and has been a standout in the Dragons’ 5-1 system. The Dragons are 23-1 and have the best win percentage and fewest losses in 3A.
