COLBY, Kan. (KJCCC.org) – Cowley Community College volleyball players Laura Bonomi and Hanna Darvas along with Allen’s Audrey Peek have been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Volleyball Players of the Week for week 10 of the 2024 season.
Offensive Player of the Week (Laura Bonomi – Cowley) – Bonomi recorded four double-doubles last week as Cowley went 5-0 with a schedule that included matches against three ranked opponents. For the week, Bonomi averaged 4.44 kills and 3.63 digs per set while also hitting at a .335 attack percentage. The sophomore crossed the 900 career kill mark and now has 925 career kills which ranks sixth in Cowley volleyball history. Her 430 kills in the 2024 season ranks her 22nd in Cowley history in kills in a season. Bonomi also has 128 career aces and is 10th in Cowley history. Within the KJCCC, Bonomi leads all KJCCC D2 players in kills per set (4.43) and total kills (430) while ranking eighth in NJCAA D2 in kills per set and ninth in total kills.
Setter of the Week (Hanna Darvas – Cowley) – Darvas recorded two double-doubles last week in wins over Des Moines Area and #25 Madison while leading Cowley’s offense during the week with 247 kills and a 15.44 kills per set average along with team attack percentage of .335 and 18.69 points per set against five quality teams (four of which were ranked in the NJCAA D2 volleyball top 25 poll). For the week, Darvas averaged 12.81 assists per set and 2.19 digs per set to go along with 12 service aces. Darvas eclipsed the 1000 career assist mark in her Cowley career during the week (currently has 1,140) and is 11th all-time in Cowley history in single-season set assists. Darvas leads KJCCC Division 2 volleyball in assists per set (12.26) and KJCCC in total Assists (1,140) while ranking first in NJCAA D2 volleyball in assists per set and fourth in total assists.
Defensive Player of the Week (Audrey Peek – Allen) – Peek tallied 120 digs and averaged 6.00 digs per set over the course of five matches last week as the Red Devils went 3-2 with losses to a pair of teams that are currently ranked in the NJCAA D2 Volleyball Top 25 poll. This season, Peek leads KJCCC D2 volleyball and ranks fifth in NJCAA D2 volleyball in digs per set (6.10) along and total digs (702).
