NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer Poll | NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC (KJCCC.org) – With the 2024 NJCAA soccer seasons set to get underway in 10 short days, 12 teams from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference have been featured in the initial NJCAA soccer preseason Top-20 polls released on Monday, August 12th.
A total of eight women’s teams and four men’s teams were picked within the preseason top-20 polls with five women’s teams featured in the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Top-20 poll and three women’s teams in the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer Top-20 with three teams ranked inside the top-10 of their respective polls. Both the NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 Men’s Soccer Preseason polls featured a pair of KJCCC teams each with two of the four teams ranked inside the top-10 of their respective NJCAA top-20 polls.
The highest ranking received by a KJCCC soccer team came courtesy of the Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team with the number three ranking in the NJCAA Division 2 women’s soccer poll by earning 126 total points after finishing the 2023 campaign as National Runner-Up. Joining the Cavaliers in the top 20 of the NJCAA Division 2 women’s soccer poll is eighth-ranked Neosho County Community College and 19th-ranked Allen County Community College as the KJCCC/Region 6 is one of three regions with at least three teams ranked inside the preseason poll, joining Region 23 (Mississippi/Louisiana, 4 teams) and Region 11 (Northeast Nebraska/Iowa, 3 teams).
In the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Top-20 poll, a Region-high five teams are ranked from the KJCCC with 10th-ranked Cowley leading the way after making last year’s NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer National Semifinals and earning 77 total points in the preseason poll. Joining the Tigers are 12th-ranked Butler (63 points), 15th-ranked Kansas City Kansas (42 points), 17th-ranked Barton (28 points), and 20th-ranked Hutchinson (7 points). No other region in NJCAA Division 1 women’s soccer has more than two schools ranked in the preseason poll, with Region 1 (Arizona), Region 8 (Florida), Region 9 (Wyoming/Eastern Colorado/Western Nebraska), and Region 14 (East Texas) all having two teams in the rankings.
On the men’s side, the KJCCC is represented by fifth-ranked Barton Community College (112 points) and sixth-ranked Cowley (105 points) as both squads are coming off National Tournament appearances last season while combining for 34 total wins a year ago. The two teams inside the top-10 of the preseason poll is tied for the most among any NJCAA Region, joining Region 14 (East Texas) as Region 14 is the only Region to have more than two teams appear in the preseason rankings (three total).
The Division 2 Men’s Soccer preseason poll features 13th-ranked Johnson County Community College (58 points) and 19th-ranked Neosho County (13 points) in the rankings as the two teams tied for the KJCCC regular season title last year. No NJCAA Region has more than three teams appearing in the preseason poll as the KJCCC/Region 6 is one of seven Regions to have multiple teams ranked in the poll with the two teams trailing only Region 23 (Mississippi/Louisiana) and Region 1 (Arizona).
KJCCC Soccer Preseason Order of Finishes as voted on by league coaches will be released throughout the week this week, beginning with KJCCC D1 Men’s Soccer Predicted Order of Finish on Tuesday afternoon. Both the KJCCC Division 2 Men’s Soccer and KJCCC D1 Women’s Soccer Predicted Order Of Finish will be released on Wednesday with the KJCCC D2 Women’s Soccer Predicted Order of Finish being released on Thursday. The 2024 soccer season gets underway for all Divisions on Thursday, August 22nd with 10 different programs in action on opening day.
