McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School’s Girls Wrestling team closed off 4A Regionals Saturday, Feb. 15 at MHS with seven Bullpups qualifying for the State Tournament in Salina.
The team finished 4th in the Regional tournament out of 30 schools with 119.5 total points, finishing behind Pratt, Colby, and Rock Creek. The seven Pups who qualified finished in the top eight in their respective weight class. One Bullpup won their respective class. The qualifiers will compete in the 4A State Tournament in Salina Feb. 28 – March 1.
The 2025 tournament marks the first edition of the new state tournament format for girls wrestling after KSHSAA’s executive board approved of a new change to go from two tournaments to four, similar to the boys wrestling tournaments (changing from 6-5A & 4-1A to 6A, 5A, 4A, and 3-1A).
