(12/15) K-State Women Host KU in Dillons Sunflower Showdown on Saturday

MANHATTAN, Kan. (KStateSports.com) – The longest continuous rivalry in NCAA Division I women’s college basketball is set for the 133rd all-time meeting, as (12/15) K-State (24-4, 12-3 Big 12) hosts Kansas (15-11, 5-10) in the Dillons Sunflower Showdown on Saturday at 4 p.m.

• The Wildcats enter Saturday’s game with a 16-game home winning streak. This is tied for the sixth-longest home court winning streak in program history and the third-longest at Bramlage Coliseum. A win Saturday would tie for the fifth-longest overall for K-State and tie for the second-longest in Bramlage.
• Saturday’s game will air on ESPN+, as Ben Boyle (play-by-play), Missy Heidrick (analyst) and Sophie Smith (sideline) will have the call.

1. Mittie on Naismith Watch List 
• For the second straight season, K-State head coach Jeff Mittie has been named to the 2025 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Watch List presented by AXIA Time.
2. No Place Like Home
• K-State has won 16 games in Bramlage this season (16-0). This marks the fourth straight season with 15 or more home wins. Over the last two seasons, the Wildcats are 32-2 (.941) in Bramlage. A win Saturday would set the school record for the best two-season home win total in program history.
3. Sundell Moves into Top-5
• All-America candidate Serena Sundell has moved into fifth in school history for assists in a single season with a career-high 196. With four assists, Sundell will become the third player in program history with 200 or more assists in a season.
4. Glenn Approaching Milestone on the Glass
• Senior guard Jaelyn Glenn needs 13 rebounds to become the 20th player in program history with 600 or more career rebounds.
5. Happy Helpers
• K-State features four players with 50 or more assists this season: Sundell (196), Zyanna Walker (110), Glenn (85) and Taryn Sides (81). If Temira Poindexter (47) reaches 50 assists this season, this would mark the fourth season in program history with five or more players with 50 or more assists.

At a Glance: Kansas
• Kansas (15-11, 5-10 Big 12) enters Saturday’s Dillons Sunflower Showdown following a 63-58 win over UCF on Tuesday. The win snapped a four-game skid.
• On the sideline, Kansas is led by 10th-year head coach Brandon Schneider. Schneider is 142-160 (.470) in his time in Lawrence. He guided the program to the 2022 NCAA Tournament and the 2023 Postseason WNIT title.
• The Jayhawks feature two players averaging in double figures this season, led by sophomore S’Mya Nichols and junior Elle Evans.
• Nichols paces the Jayhawks with 19.7 points per game on a .477 field goal percentage and is handing out 4.9 assist per game. She leads the nation in free throws made and attempted (203-of-244). She tallied 20 points, five rebounds and five assists against UCF.
• Evans is second on the team with 14.0 points per game and leads the squad in three-point field goals made and attempted (61-of-152; .401). Against the Knights, Evans tallied 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Wildcats Over 400 Wins in Bramlage
• K-State is 412-156 (.725) all-time inside Bramlage Coliseum, which is in its 37th season of existence.
• This season, K-State is 16-0 in home games. This is tied for the sixth-longest home win streak in program history and tied for the third-longest in Bramlage. This is the longest in-season home win streak since 2002-03 (19).
• This is the 34th time in program history that the Wildcats reached double figures in home victories. It is the 26th season K-State has won 10 or more games in Bramlage.
• With this season’s 16 home wins and the 16 from the 2023-24 season, the 32 home wins by the Wildcats over the last two seasons are tied for the most wins in Bramlage over a two-season span in program history.
• In the 2023-24 season, the Wildcats were 16-2 (.889) in Bramlage. The .889 winning percentage last season was the best since going 13-1 in 2008-09.
• In his career in games played in his home venue, Mittie is 416-113 (.786) including a 142-48 (.747) record at K-State.

Wildcats Solid From the Arc
• K-State has continued to attack from deep in the 2024-25 season.
• For the season, K-State is shooting 39.6 percent (243-of-614) from 3-point range. The Wildcats lead the Big 12 and are second in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage and are third in the Big 12 and 20th in the nation for 3-point field goals made (8.68). K-State is receiving 32.4 percent of its total points (729 points) from made 3-point field goals this season.
• The Wildcats registered a season-high 15 connections from 3-point range at Kansas on Feb. 2 with a percentage of 65.2.
• The Wildcats registered 14 connections on 20 attempts from 3-point range against UCF on Feb. 15 for a season-high 70.0 percent effort. Since 2009-10 season, the percentage of 70.0 is the highest in program history (min. 20 attempts), the only Big 12 team to shoot 70.0 percent or better on 20 or more attempts and the eighth team in the nation to achieve the feat and first since 2021.
• K-State’s 243 three-point field goals made ranks fourth in program history for 3-pointers made in a single season. K-State’s 3-point field goal percentage of .396 would rank second in school history for a season.
• In the Jeff Mittie era, the Wildcats have made five or more 3-pointers in a game 254 times in 353 total games including 49 games with 10 or more connections (w-l: 43-6) from deep.
• This season, K-State made 10 or more 3-pointers in five straight games (Dec. 1-18) for the first time in program history.
• The trio of Temira Poindexter (70), Taryn Sides (69) and Jaelyn Glenn (59) are the fourth set of K-State teammates and first since 2012-13 to make 50 or more 3-pointers in a season.
• In the 11 seasons under Mittie, K-State has buried 2,217 three-pointers which is 6.28 per game.

• K-State remains unselfish in its play in the 2024-25 season.
• The Wildcats are averaging 21.9 assists per game and own an assisted shot rate of 71.2. K-State leads the nation for assists per game, third in the nation and second in the Big 12 for assist/turnover ratio (1.71) and is tied for second in the nation for assisted shot rate.
• Since assists became an officially tracked stat in 1981-82, K-State has registered an assisted shot rate of 60.0 percent or higher at the end of a season 24 times in its history.
• The Wildcats have handed out 20 or more assists in 19 games this season (19-0) including a season-high 30 assists on 37 made field goals against DePaul on Nov. 27. The 30 assists were the most since carding 30 against UIW on Dec. 3, 2019.
• Over the last 17 years, the Wildcats are 111-8 (.933) when handing out 20 or more assists.

Glenn Attacks the Glass
• Jaelyn Glenn has been a strong presence on the boards in her career.
• In her career, Glenn ranks 20th in program history for career rebounds with 587. With 13 rebounds, she will become the 20th player in program history with 600 or more rebounds. She has carded 100 or more rebounds in all four seasons of her career.
• She owns 54 career games with five or more rebounds including five with 10 or more.
• Glenn is the second player in program history (Brittany Chambers, 2009-13) with 575 or more career rebounds and 200 or more 3-point field goals made. With three steals, Glenn will become the second player in program history (Carlisa Thomas, 1983-87) with 575 or more career rebounds and 250 or more career steals.
• This season, Glenn has hauled in 4.3 rebounds per game (115 rebounds). She tallied her season-high of 10 at Utah on Jan. 8.

Sundell Rises into Top-10 for Points
• In addition to her distribution skills, guard Serena Sundell adds a scoring punch to the K-State lineup.
• During her career, Sundell has scored 1,641 points (12.5 ppg) and currently ranks 10th on the K-State career scoring list. She was the 14th player in school history to score 1,500 points in her career. She has tallied double figures in 92 career games, including 19 career games with 20 or more points.
• This season, Sundell is averaging 13.5 points per game on a .491 field goal percentage. She has scored in double figures in 21 games, including a season-high 27 against TCU on Feb. 5.
• In the 2023-24 season, Sundell was second on the team in scoring with 12.1 points on a career-high .536 field goal percentage. She registered a personal season-high 22 points at UCF on Jan. 6 and scored in double figures in 25 games, including three games with 20 or more. She scored in double figures in 13 straight games from Jan. 3 to Feb. 25. In Big 12 games, Sundell averaged 13.8 points per game on a .539 field goal percentage. She ranked 12th in the league in scoring and is fourth in the league in field goal percentage.
• During the 2022-23 season, Sundell was second on the team and 12th in the Big 12 in scoring with 13.9 points per game on a career-best .489 field goal percentage. In Big 12 games, she averaged 15.11 points and ranked eighth in the league.
• Sundell recorded a personal career-high 501 points in the 2022-23 season. She was the seventh player in program history to score 500 or more points in their sophomore season. Her total ranked tied for sixth for a sophomore season at K-State.
