GRIMES, Iowa (BartonSports.com) – Continuing its busy November schedule, the Barton Community College wrestling team mended a 12-25 record Saturday afternoon at the Grand View Open held at the Ignite Sports Complex in Grimes, IA.
10 different Cougars fashioned a victory over the day long meet, led behind the 2-2 records of Kamden Wise (165-division) and Keyven Schroeder (285-division).
Barton will return to dual action Wednesday afternoon traveling to Parsons, Kansas, to face the home squad of Labette Community College at 3:00 p.m. before meeting NOC-Tonkawa following at 4:00 p.m.
In the 165-division Wise opened his day on the positive side securing a late first period pin over Hunter Marlow of Marian University before dropping to the backside suffering a 3:34 pin to York College’s Jaydon Dungan. Wise extended his day on the consolation side obtaining his second first period flatting over Tyler Gibson of Briar Cliff Iowa with the day concluding in his second consolation bout to North Idaho’s Gabe Lake.
Schroeder collected his two victories like Wise behind a pair of falls to kickstart his day. Earning an early second period fall over Devon Lolar of the University of Saint Mary, Schroeder advanced into the Championship third round behind a first period 2:29 back flatting of Graceland University’s Carolos Ruiz. Dropping a 10-2 major decision to Pratt Community College’s Marcel Gonzalez, Schroeder’s day would end to Kyle Oliveira of Iowa Central.
Eight other Cougars notched single victories with a trio coming in the 141-division from Ethan Boles, Colin Little and Skyler McMullen, while Nathan Agudzi-Addo and Logan Buchanan provided victories in the 285-division each finishing 1-2 on the afternoon.
Kayden Blake (157-division), Kaden Foster (165-division) and Derek Truman (174-division) closed out Barton’s other victories.
