LINDSBORG, Kan. — The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) presented a $10,000 check to the Valkommen Bridge Relighting Project on Aug. 8.
The grant came from the David J. Nutt for Lindsborg Fund and went towards replacing the lights with a new computer-controlled LED system, allowing the bridge to be colored and lit for any holiday or event requested, including time between holidays according to MCCF.
The members of the foundation visited the Swedish Pavilion to see the progress on the restoration. They shared that the paint has been replaced on the exterior of the building with the yellow walled paneling being returned to its original two tone pattern. The grant request also went towards rebuilding the windows which are set to be completed soon.
According to the Lindsborg Old Mill and Swedish Heritage Museum, KenJax Painting has been repainting the building and the grant of over $162,000 has gone towards that and will be used to restore the Pavilion windows to its historic “top pivot” style soon.
The last stop on the foundation’s day trip was the Frederickson Outdoor Fitness Park, which they also took a picture of along with the other locations. The park was built with the help of a $55,000 grant from the David J. Nutt Fund for Lindsborg in 2021.
