BUHLER, Kan. — A new option for a home for Buhler USD 313’s Ad Astra Academies may be in the works.
At a special noon meeting Tuesday, the USD 313 Board of Education authorized Superintendent Cindy Couchman to negotiate for the purchase of the Masonic Lodge building at 1800 East 23rd in Hutchinson, which is in the Buhler district.
Prior to the vote, the board toured the building and conducted an executive session to discuss preliminary matters related to a real estate transaction.
Addressing space needs for Ad Astra Academies, which includes the district alternative and virtual programs, was part of a bond issue USD 313 voters turned down in April. The Academy programs are currently based at the district’s Burkholder Administrative Center in Buhler.
