BUHLER, Kan. — Buhler USD 313 held the formal ribbon cuttings Monday morning for the district’s two daycare centers, including Buhler Beginnings housed at Buhler Grade School and Crusader Crossing in the former Faith Baptist Church at 56th and Plum.

The two projects are among several that have been or are being developed in Reno County with some of the ARPA funding allocated to Reno County, where expanding daycare availability was identified as a high priority.

The joint efforts of the Reno County Childcare Coalition in supporting this and other projects was noted by USD 313 Superintendent of Schools Cindy Couchman. “We’re very thankful for the Reno County Coalition that helped us fund this,” she said, with additional support coming from the Buhler Education Foundation and the USD 313 Board of Education.

The two centers have had a soft opening, with about 12 students currently enrolled in each. Couchman explained they were advised to have a “soft launch” for the facilities, and they are gradually increasing that number.

When fully in operation the two facilities will have a combined capacity of around 80 students. Open houses for both are planned for early October.
