LINN COUNTY, Kan. — Two children were found dead Monday night in a pond in rural Linn County.
According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a report of two missing children who had not been seen for several hours.
Evidence led them to Lake Chaparral northwest of Mound City, where an aerial drone searched above the water, and they were found trapped under ice. Overland Park Fire dive team members assisted in recovery of the bodies.
In response to the tragedy, Jayhawk USD 346 staff paid special attention to the well-being of their students today and are offering special support provided by the community.
Both the Sheriff’s office and USD 346 asked for prayers for the families along with staff and students.
