HUTCHINSON, Kan. – One man is in custody after an early Friday morning incident where shots were fired into a southeast Hutchinson residence.

Hutchinson Police Investigations Commander Lt. Dustin Loepp said officers were called to a residence in the 1100 block of East 4th just after 1:30 AM. A man there said he heard gunshots coming from outside. An undetermined number of bullets entered the interior of the home in close proximity to where the victim was, and the property was damaged.

Investigators were able to later identify a suspect. It was determined that the suspect and the victim are acquainted, and there is reason to believe the shooting was premeditated.

Daniel Coronado Jr, 29, was arrested by Hutchinson Police Friday night and booked into the Reno County Jail on a $501.50 bond on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and felony criminal damage. He’s expected to make an initial court appearance Monday.

A juvenile female involved in the investigation was also taken into custody for drug possession and interference with law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing.
