Stafford County YEC Competition Held Friday

ST. JOHN, Kan. — Stafford County’s Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge took place Friday, with six teams competing in the competition at the Stafford County Annex in St. John.

First prize went to Lilly Brummer and Tara Dowling’s B&D Bakery for which they got a $750 prize and will represent Stafford County in the YEC state competition in Manhattan in April.

Second place and a $500 prize went to Garrett Dunn and William Martin’s Spud Brothers, and 3rd place and $250 went to Tanner Mawhirter’s Smash’ems.

As the teacher of the winning team, Tabra Ward will receive $250 dollars for class materials. The YEC was co-sponsored by Stafford County Economic Development, Network Kansas, and 21 Central Extension District.

Judges for the competition included Jennifer Gleason from 21 Central Extension, Tiffany Nixon from Network Kansas, and St. John-Hudson Elementary principal and Stafford County Economic Development Board member Angela Peterson.
