HUTCHINSON, Kan. — For the second time this week, an inmate at Hutchinson Correctional Facility has died. The Kansas Department of Corrections said Friday Devon Malechi Stutesman, 24, died Monday at an area hospital where he had been taken after being found unresponsive in his cell at HCF’s Central Unit March 1st.
Stutesman was serving a 122-month sentence from Lyon County in a 2019 case for possession and distribution of heroin and attempting to traffic firearms into a correctional facility.
Per KDOC protocol an autopsy will be conducted, and the death is being investigated by the Kansas Bureau of investigation.
Lamoine Wiebe, who was serving a sentence for second degree murder from Harvey County, died March 1st after he was found in his cell, also at HCF’s Central unit.
