Just in Time Utility Support for Kansans

KANSAS CITY, MO — The Salvation Army has received a $400,000 gift from the state of Kansas to supplement utility assistance programs for Kansas residents.

In a settlement with an energy supplier operating in Kansas, the Attorney General has directed that the amount goes to The Salvation Army to help folks with their gas bills.

‘We were excited to hear about this gift and grateful to Attorney General Kris Kobach,” says Major Kelly Collins, Divisional Commander, Kansas and Western Missouri Division. “This $400,000 gift will surely make a difference for struggling Kansans and provide relief for seasonally high utility bills.”

This donation couldn’t come at a better time for many Kansans, as 2025 is shaping up as the coldest winter since 2013, with colder than normal temps. For those Kansans who would like to apply for help, please reach out to the local corps or service center nearest you.
