HUTCHINSON, Kan. – During their June 13, 2023, meeting, the Reno County Commission discussed removing fireworks restrictions. Commissioners also talked about working with the City of Hutchinson so that both the city and county have similar regulations. The subject is currently on the Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Board of County Commission agenda for discussion and to make a decision.
Reno County Counselor Patrick Hoffman said that fireworks emitting a shower of sparks more than six feet are prohibited under the current county resolution. Commissioners directed Hoffman to draft an updated resolution allowing such fireworks.
Commissioner Randy Parks said that he is strongly in favor of working with the City of Hutchinson to remove the fireworks restrictions.
