MCPHERSON, Kan. – The City of McPherson’s 1928 American LaFrance fire truck is being reunited this weekend with a twin.
The truck, which was restored through private donations, will travel to Independence, Missouri on Saturday for Fire Fest being put on by the Independence 76 Fire Company.
The company owns a like truck that has also been restored. Both trucks were ordered and constructed during the same time frame.
Fire Fest features restored fire apparatus from across Kansas and Missouri. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be fire trucks, classic cars, tractors, souvenir booths, a water display and kids’ games in the Cable Dahmer Arena Parking Lot.
Three members of the McPherson Fire Department will accompany the truck to the show, which is being transported via tractor-trailer by Louis Bates.
