McPherson Main Street Welcomes La Jefa Mexicana

McPHERSON, Kan. — La Jefa Mexicana, the vibrant pink Mexican food truck recently turned sit-down restaurant was officially welcomed to Main Street on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

“I want to thank my crew for being so patient with me,” Owner of Dora Ochoa said.

Ochoa also gave thanks to the community of McPherson.

“You guys have been so supportive; everyone here in McPherson has,” she added.

Ochoa gave a shoutout to Luke Aichele who she said helped her start her business off in the beginning.

“I’m very very thankful,” Ochoa said about Aichele’s patience with her.

Ben Coffey, owner of The Ark Antiques & Flea Market welcomed La Jefa Mexicana on behalf of McPherson Main Street by presenting the McPherson Main Street paver to show the Main Street’s gratitude to the business and the restaurant’s investment in the community.

“You have already started with a historic building that means a lot to McPherson,” Coffey said. “I think you’re going to continue on and make a whole new history for it. That’s really exciting,” 

Coffey shared he loved the vibe of the restaurant too.

“When we came in at 3 o’clock on a Wednesday and there were multiple tables full, you’re doing something right,” Coffey said. 

Mayor Tom Brown congratulated La Jefa as well. 

La Jefa Mexicana is located at 108 South Main, McPherson.

Restaurant Hours: Open Monday-Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday 11 p.m. – 6 p.m. Closed on Sundays.
