WICHITA, Kan. — A group dedicated to the physical and emotional healing of disabled veterans through fly fishing activities and education is currently requesting funds to help take disabled veterans to Sowbug Roundup, an annual Fly Tying Convention in Mountain Home, Ark.

Scott Harwood, of Hutchinson and Project Lead for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing-Wichita started a GoFundMe to help raise money for the trip.

Annual Ark Fly Fishing TripIn 2022 and 2023, Project Healing Waters – Wichita took groups to Sowbug, but this year, they are short of the money needed to take a group.

The three-day event March 21- 23 attracts approximately 150 fly tiers from around the nation who go to learn how to tie fly patterns for fly fishing.

“All program activities are free to the veteran, and multi-day trips require independent fundraising to make the trips happen for 10 attendees,” Harwood shared.
